Spin 180 kicked off the year with its annual ski trip to Big Sky, MT. Unfortunately, I was unable to attend. (Who am I kidding? I have never skied…ever…water or snow. I really enjoy providing comic moments at Spin 180 meetings, but allowing the youth to watch me ski the first time is not what I have in mind here… ) Well, everyone had a great time to say the least. They were so jazzed the first Wednesday we met after the trip: It became a songfest led by Randy Palmer. One of the great values of the ski trip is the relationships that the youth develop during and beyond. I believe this is a principle that Jesus used to reach people as well. He often “earned the right” to share the truth with them. As he ministered to people, he often met their needs first, sometimes in a very tangible ways. I think he earned the right to share the truth (Himself) with people He encountered. In many ways, each Spin 180 night is about building relationships with young lives and sharing the Truth with them. At the Laugh Your Way to a Better Marriage weekend, the Spin 180 leadership team provided concessions for break times. Over $1,000 was raised in this benefit. Funds raised at this event will be used for an upcoming youth mission trip. Many BCC families and individuals provided goodies. We thank you for your generosity! Special thanks to Sally Bales for organizing concession items and also for the BCC hospitality team for lending a hand. Thanks to everyone who supported the Spin 180 fundraiser. Recently Spin 180 went to TCBY for “treat” night. Let me add that the trip returning to the church building provided time for young people to just talk about the day. (Although conversation in one car was so loud one leader reported later: “my ears are ringing”!) I love how they all open up. Sharing the realities of their lives… As a Spin 180 team member they bless me too. Be sure to check out BCC’s weekly Hot Sheet for details of Spin 180 meetings.
